A Teenage Son

My dear young son,
what have you done,
I fear you wont pass twenty.

Your out drinking wine,
smoking joints of every kind,
doing whatever your heart inclines.

God knows I did try,
to make you happy and kind,
but it seems I failed in my trying.

But now my dear son,
please stop drinking your rum,
and come back to your dear ole pa.

For my hair has gone gray,
as I ah worrying each day
if you will make home or be dead in a grave.

My heart is about done,
your ma ... a feeble one,
we both pray you'll live past today.

Monster

Monster,
Malicious Hate;
     Destroying you with words,
Making your life a living hell
Marriage.

Stress

Its appears,
as an iceberg
floating upon the sea,
with only its surface shown:
but lingering below,
the depth or breadth is unknown
as it engages for war
upon the voyage
you sojourned.

It builds,
like a volcano ready to explode
upon the island shores,
turning the golden beaches
into dark charcoal magma forms
of lifeless sludge
suffocating all that once was,
under it surface.

It covers,
like a winters snowstorm;
a derailed train off the icy track,
her passengers thrown
into the bitter cold without warning;
unprotected, the elements devouring.

It is vicious,
like the wild beast
set free, hungry, seeking
its next meal to devour instantly
as it tears with its teeth
limb from limb.

It devastates
families, entire communities
without notice,
for it has no soul -
it only seeks to serve itself
as it fuels off of your grief.

It kills,
leaving you empty
with no peace;
only a wooden box
lying at your feet
six foot deep
waiting for you to enter.

Stress defeats,
it lingers beneath,
it builds to explode
to cover in grief.
It is vicious without mercy,
it devastates in disbelief,
it kills everyone eventually.

So please, please,
listen to me
- seek the one thing
that you, that I,
that we all
desperately need,
seek to live fully
and absolutely
stress free.

Thankful for Gifts

Thanksgiving;
beautiful dining
with friends and family.
Be thankful for gifts
you have been blessed with.

A Mother

She stands strong, unassailable like rain
Casting down into the torrent sea.
No movement seen when terror strikes,
For she endures even wars;
Cold as ice, nerves of steel,
None can conquer her –
A warrior.
Yet, fragile
As a
Vase.

My Grandfather

There was a man that I once knew
Who was righteous in the way he stood.
He was a man of love and honor,
Who lived as men should.

His heart was strong like the lion,
Yet his deeds as gentle as snow.
He sought to help the needy
Whenever the path was shown.

He loved little children
And helped all those in need.
He was kind to all who knew him,
For he was a great man indeed.

Humble were his actions,
Yet strong and brave was he.
He saved many during his duty
And later in life, he saved me.

The memories I will cherish
Reminiscing of the days
Traveling along the highways
To places far and away.

He taught me how to be a man
And how to love a wife.
He showed me the path to G-d,
And how I should live my life.

This man is no longer with me
As he passed not so long ago.
His memories will never leave me,
So now I will no longer mourn.

My children will grow to know him
From the words that I will speak.
They will learn how to love HaShem,
By the lessons my Grandfather did teach.

My tears are finally silenced
As I sit and think of him.
His lessons I will greatly cherish;
My grandfather I will surely miss.

My Grandparents

Met at birth
In a room
Two people
Filled with love.

With their hearts
They impart
-- Like a father
     And a mother --
Tremendous love
To a young child
As to a son.

Memories cherished
A childhood treasured

A gift
From God
Above.

A Child Alone

Born into a world of deception,
Embraced in a life of abuse,
Tormented by a state of abandonment,
Betrayed by parents of youth.

Destroyed by words of profanities,
Tortured without excuse,
Alone in a house of misery:
Torn, battered and confused.

Compelled to a life of insignificance
With their endeavors never seen,
Their family – a false reality,
Alone with only their dreams.

Assaulted with no explanation
By parents who destroy with their hands;
A child bruised and broken
Can only dream of oceans and sands.

Alone in a world with no one,
Their voice never heard nor seen,
Locked in a room of obscurities,
Waiting till death sets them free.

Violence speaks to this child
With no escape to be seen,
Alone in this house of tragedy:
Withdrawn, suicidal and unseen.
