Another Day

Green blades,
Blue days,
Yellow flowers
Begin to tower.

Warm days
Set the stage,
The birds pray
To the golden rays.

Life begins
With musical whims;
The trees spin,
The apricots live.

The sun sets,
The wind jets
Across the sky,
The day went by.

Springs Coming

Long lines intertwine,
Sunlit vines embrace the sky.
Blue light, sonic boom:
How beautiful, the vines bloom.

The Sparrow

The sparrow dances amongst the trees,
Chirping and singing wild and free.
Playing within the afternoon breeze,
Displaying her beauty for me to see.

Sweet is she, flying serene
In and out, around the trees.
She stops, she looks…as I sing,
She whistles back singing to me;

Chirp-de-dee, chirp-de-dee
is the song she sings to me,
Chirp-de-dee, chirp-de-dee,
oh what fun, we both agree!

Then at once, off she goes
to bring this joy to another soul;
to brighten their day, to remove dismay
to sing a song and offer her play.

Chirp-de-dee, chirp-de-dee,
what a beautiful memory;
Chirp-de-dee, chirp-de-dee
The day goes on merrily.

Vessel of Your Elohim

Virtue begins with speech,
Eager to be released -
Swirling upon the streets...
Symphonies filled with peace.
Every word we extol,
Leaves impressions of gold

On those we meet in life,
Fragile, replete with strife.
Yet, the words will provide
Only if spoken wise -
Uplifting the demise
Riveting all their minds;

     Elevate and embrace,
     Love with a heart of grace.
     Overlook all their faults,
     Helping to bring results.
     Implore to walk in love,
     Mastering...whats above.

First Snow

Gazing out into the darkness of night,
I see trees glistening with specks of white,
turning the night into a wonderful light,
with snow flurries swirling around my sight.
Dancing and prancing with heavenly might,
the first winters snow is glistening tonight.
Overwhelmed with this victorious scene,
I cannot wait for what tomorrow will bring.

Winter Thoughts

A freeze or mild breeze -
sunny skies,
temperatures rise
or fall below freezing.
cold or hot?
no, just winter thoughts;
how pleasing.

William Wordsworth: Lines

Written While Sailing In A Boat At Evening

How richly glows the water's breast
Before us, tinged with evening hues,
While, facing thus the crimson west,
The boat her silent course pursues!
And see how dark the backward stream!
A little moment past so smiling!
And still, perhaps, with faithless gleam,
Some other loiterers beguiling.

Such views the youthful Bard allure;
But, heedless of the following gloom,
He deems their colours shall endure
Till peace go with him to the tomb.
       -- And let him nurse his fond deceit,
And what if he must die in sorrow!
Who would not cherish dreams so sweet,
Though grief and pain may come to-morrow?

My Analysis

What draws me into this poem is the wonderful play on the first and second stanzas.

The first seems to be about the waters, its beauty and grandeur while sailing upon her crests.  As he sails the waters break into charming other crests as they glide into the darkness behind.

Then comes the second, the twist.  This young poet (bard) who is drawn into the scene around him is not paying attention to the environment.  He is deceived by what he sees. All this beauty before him may indeed turn into sorrow and grief, to his utter demise.

Please leave comments with your thoughts and analysis.

Peace Within

The waters swift within this place,
Swift as ocean currents break,
Waters racing from mountains above
Filling her shores with icy sludge:

Waters so black, yet white as snow,
A force so strong one cannot ignore.
Tearing trees from life and limb,
Changing the environment upon a whim.

And in this place, you sit so strong
As peace embellishes your granite walls.
A scene serene in which you make,
No movement do you create.

You sit strong as your neighbors fall.
You embrace the waters that climb your wall.
You stand fast for all to see,
You’re the peace within this glorious scene.

Seaweed and Kelp

Twisted and tangled within your form
Overlooked by many,
No one can see your beauty lie
Amongst the rocky dwellings of Point Lobos.

The day passes, the tide draws near,
Your elegance soon to be forgotten.
Eager to be a vision remembered,
An artist sees your beautiful rhythm.

An artist keen to the turmoil you bring,
A vision seen as no other;
Analog dreams, rest assured,
You will never be forgotten.

The mighty Deardorff sets upon the Riess
Pointed down with bellows drawn;
Meter read, zone three checked,
Your precious memory lives on!

Displayed in a silvery light
Upon the wall to admire,
A glance, and your viewer stares,
Your memory was acquired.
